Besides depending on
international donors, government and charitable events Mother
Everest looks at fulfilling it objectives and sustaining some of
the projects on its own through programs that it looks to run
with local support. Tourism is the vehicle by which the Mother
Everest looks to promote and help support its community projects
in remote areas of Nepal. The organization encourages western
visitors to rub shoulders closely with the society by actually
participating in building projects and working with local
people. Apart from international donations, government support
Mother Everest will be actively involved in exploring the
possibilities to fund the activities that it conducts through
student programs, volunteer programs, community building treks
and home stays. The programs offer a unique opportunity to the
visitors to influence the life of another human being positively
and ensure a change in their lives while at the same time
ensuring the preservation of their unique culture and heritage.
It provides the volunteer, the trekker or the student to be
directly involved in the project, be it building a house for a
displaced war victim or organizing a workshop on environment
protection. The sense of closeness and working in such close
proximity helps develop meaningful friendships and gives the
visitor a different perspective on the lives of the local people
as well as helps them understand the local culture better. You
can get involved in a wide range of projects, from helping
people re-building mud huts, to teaching English conversational
skills, painting a monastery, sharing basic health and hygiene
tips, helping out in a local school, offering vocational
training or assisting the villagers in their daily tasks.

1. Trek – n – change: Crossing cultural barriers and building
bridges
Giving something back to the world can be a highly rewarding and
life changing experience. The work and the toil put in the
projects makes this trip the most meaningful and rewarding
offering visitors remarkable perspectives on other people and
places, as well as their role in the world. Our trek – n –
change programs offer the visitor opportunities to actually get
involved with projects which benefit the communities they visit.
The option of working to help improve the lives of the people
gives the trip a whole new meaning. The visitor could spend some
days in a village and be involved in infrastructure development.
2. Volunteer programs
We all love the idea of making a difference in other people’s
lives and doing something that changes the lives of other
people. Our volunteer programs give people a unique opportunity
to leave a lasting impression on themselves and the
beneficiaries. Participation introduces you to real local people
and real culture away from the tourist ‘traps’. The programs
have no age bar and are designed to suit anybody; family,
students, individual, groups. The opportunity to stay with
multiple families in different regions of Nepal can be arranged.
Various volunteering options are available that are very
exciting and enjoyable.
3. Student Programs
Mother Everest combines the finest elements of experiential
learning, traditional classroom learning and service learning
with adventure, travel and cultural exchange to create
extraordinary experiences. During the program students explore
unique environments and cultures while embarking on an intensive
community service adventure. The programs ensure that the
students are fully immersed in an educational experience in a
real world setting, gaining a global perspective and hands-on
understanding of life. The programs provide opportunities for
individuals to learn grow and gain insights in ways not possible
in a traditional classroom setting. Communities projects that we
undertake provides rich opportunities for learning, personal
growth and cultural understanding. In addition to making a real
contribution to the communities we visit, working provides rich
opportunities for learning, personal growth, leadership
development and cultural.
4. Home stays
This program offers tourists the opportunity to stay with local
households to share their culture and lifestyle. Home stay, a
profoundly relatively new way of traveling encourages
sustainable development of the villages whilst allowing visitors
to live side by side with the local people. It allows the
visitor to discover local habitats and wildlife, and celebrate
traditional cultures, rituals and wisdom. And by doing this, the
tourist helps support development and conservation. It further
provides local employment and income for education, development
and conservation initiatives, while at the same time giving the
tourist a unique opportunity for cultural exchange and
interaction with members of a remote tribe or community. This
not only offers economic opportunities for local people but also
provides the traveler with a genuine insight into a different
way of life and environment. |
